Chairman Paul Bulcke of Nestle stated in a Sunday newspaper interview that the company plans to retain its Health Science division, following the announcement by the food giant that Laurent Freixe, a seasoned executive, will succeed Mark Schneider as CEO. One of the Nestle divisions that some analysts believe may be sold in the medium term is the health sector.

Bulcke responded, “Absolutely,” when asked if Nestle would keep Nestle Health Science. The industry, she said, was promising with benefits for society. Following Nestle’s announcement on Thursday that Schneider would step down after almost eight years in the role, Bulcke made his comments.
- After reaching a record high in January 2022, Nestle shares have been declining since May 2023 due to a string of errors, missed results, and downward revisions to its revenue projections.
- However, Bulcke told the newspaper that the share price had no bearing on Schneider’s decision to leave.
