Airbus October Report: The Company Aims to Meet Adjusted 770-Jet Goal with Over 200 Deliveries Remaining

As it pursues an increasingly difficult year-end goal, Airbus announced on Thursday that it delivered 62 aircraft in October, bringing the total for this year to 559. With the most recent deliveries, Airbus still has more than 200 jets to deliver to meet its yearly target of around 770, which was lowered from 800 in July due to supply chain issues. A little over 60 aircraft were delivered by Airbus in October, according to a Reuters report last week.

Airbus Faces Supply Chain Hurdles: 750 Deliveries Now Likely Best-Case Scenario

This year, Airbus may be able to deliver as few as 750 aircraft without having to make a fresh cut, according to analysts. However, the firm is anticipated to rely on the flexibility offered by the word around in its forecast, which it reiterated last week. The planemaker’s ability to replicate the kind of end-of-year sprint that was common before the pandemic, but with a supply chain that has been damaged by labor and part shortages, is crucial, as is the availability of engines.

While it is clearly possible that Airbus might pull something out of the bag … it is increasingly feeling to us as though 750 deliveries, the bottom end of Airbus’s new range, would be a good result. We would not rule out another guidance cut towards the end of November if management sees no signs of improvement by then.
