Tesla Accelerates Malaysia’s EV Charging Network with $13.5 Million Investment

Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz, Malaysia‘s Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, presented a few highlights, including the charging investment milestone, from a meeting with the Tesla Malaysia team on Thursday. According to the official, Tesla has invested $13.5 million to build 52 Supercharger units with charging speeds of up to 250 kW, 54 wall connectors, and more than 4,500 home chargers throughout Peninsular Malaysia.

Tesla Strengthens Malaysia’s Grid Stability with Megapack Battery Storage Solutions

The discussion also included Tesla’s Megapack battery energy storage systems (BESS), which the official emphasizes as having the potential to lower costs and increase efficiency while supporting the nation’s electrical grid stability.

We also discussed the great potential of battery energy storage technology which is expected to contribute to the improvement of energy efficiency and stability of the Malaysian electricity grid. This technology has the potential to reduce energy costs and strengthen our national energy infrastructure.

With a wide range of positions situated in the cities of Cyberjaya and Kuala Lumpur, Tesla increased its hiring efforts in Malaysia in February. Before the business formally started selling electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia in July of last year, Tesla was granted permission to do so in February of last year.
