Boeing Workers Vote 96% in Favor of Strike, Halting Aircraft Manufacturing

Following a late-night decision by members in support of a strike, Boeing factory workers will leave their jobs on Friday, according to a report.

Then he revealed that some 30,000 workers on the US West Coast, who make Boeing’s 737 MAX and other aircraft, had voted 96% in favor of going on strike and stopping the company’s best-selling aircraft’s production. This will be the first strike by employees since 2008. It will formally commence on Friday at midnight Pacific time.

The walkout coincides with multiple additional production delays and the company’s backlash following the January midair blowout of a nearly new 737 MAX aircraft due to a door panel failure. Boeing declared in a statement that it was dedicated to pursuing further negotiations.

The message was clear that the tentative agreement we reached with IAM leadership was not acceptable to the members. We remain committed to resetting our relationship with our employees and the union and we are ready to get back to the table to reach a new agreement,
